1960 – Nepalese King Mahendra imposes direct rule over the country by suspending the country’s constitution and dismissing parliament. He also had the Prime Minister dismissed and imprisoned.

Birthdays:
37 CE – The infamous Roman Emperor, Nero, is born in Antium. He would become Emperor after being adopted by his uncle, Claudius. He is known for being a despot, and ordering many executions, including his mothers. Its also rumored that he kicked his pregnant wife. He committed suicide at age 30 when he was facing his own assassination.

Deaths:
1263 – King Haakon IV of Norway died while occuping one of the Orkney isles in modern day Scotland while planning a campaign after winter ended. He was 59 years old and had been King for 46 years. Its believed that Norway had reached the height and glory of its medieval era during his reign.
