1530 – A papal bull is issued from Rome and Pope Clement VII forbidding Henry VIII from remarrying and validating his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. Henry was seeking an annulment from Catherine to marry the younger Anne Boleyn.
1930 – Anthony Armstrong-Jones, the future Earl of Snowdon is born in London. He would rise to the public stage in 1960, when he married Princess Margaret, sister of Queen Elizabeth II. She elevated him to a peerage before the wedding, giving him the title, Earl of Snowdon.
1965 – Louise Mountbatten, Queen consort of Sweden died at age 75 after an illness and surgery. She was originally of the German Battenburg family, but their name was changed after World War I, in order to keep their good standing and titles with the British royal family. She had married the future Swedish King Gustaf VI Adolph in 1923. She was a niece of Empress Alexandra of Russia, and the aunt of British Prince consort, Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh.
